The Grand Rogue
by Frances Priddy.
Here is the horse's description from the book, page 5.
"... it was precisely the horse of her dreams! He was a rangy, long-legged Bay stallion, typically Thoroughbred hunter in conformation. Despite his lean frame, his body had a look of wiry strength, and the Sheen and his Bright Bay coat spoke for the Excellence of his condition. He moved with a long, free stride, head held high, nostrils distended with excitement. His eyes rolled until the whites were plainly visible. There was a white Mark resembling a burst Skyrocket between his eyes, and both his hind feet were white. His mane and tail were full, though his tail reached only a few inches below the hocks.  The mane and tail lashed about as he tossed his head and switched his hind quarters. He looked like a high-strung animal, and he was obviously nervous."
