New-Old-Stock Gipiemme Single-Pivot Brake Caliper Set (39 to 49 mm Reach)...ShopwearThank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies.
The following pictures are for illustrative purposes to show one of these quick release pins that is loose and does not properly seat in the caliper body. Please understand this offering (pictured above) does NOT have this problem. Still, I want to alert each customer to this potential problem so they may watch for this pin to loosen up over time (so as not to lose it while on the road). I don't know that they will, but I have to believe it is a possibility.
Product Description:
This offering is for a set of Gipiemme single-pivot brake calipers. They are new-old-stock, but please expect some shopwear with these sets. We estimate their reach to be in the 39 mm to 49 mm range, depending on where the brake pads are slotted (and we measure the reach from the center of the top bolt to the center of the brake pads).
These calipers came to us in bulk packaging, so there are some scuffs and scratches, but functionally they all look fine...with fairly heavy spring action, pads that still appear factory fresh (or at least usable) and all the necessary hardware (recessed allen nuts and washers/spacers) to mount the calipers.
The one items we do want to mention is in regards to the quick release pin, as illustrated in the last four pictures in the sequence to the left. Each caliper has one of these pins that limits the quick release mechanism on the cable side of the calipers from rotating too far. At first, we thought these pins were threaded, but upon closer inspection we realize there are no threads. Still, nearly all the pins fit...so we assume they are secure. However, we have come across a couple of these calipers (which we have set aside for close-out), where the pin is really loose and may be pulled out of it's limit hole on the caliper body. We promise that all of our first quality store offerings will not have this problem...meaning that both quick release pins in the calipers will be intact (and cannot be pulled out of their hole). Still, we bring this up, because there is a chance over time for these pins to work themselves loose. As a result, we wanted to be honest and mention the potential issue, so that each customer is aware of the potential problem and may keep an eye on these pins. We assume there are probably some fixes that will keep these pins in place (should they work themselves loose), but we will leave any remedies up to individual customer...and quite possibly, there may never be a need for such a fix...but we still felt obligated to mention this (and to illustrate with pictures).
Having said all of the above, please do understand this offering is for a set of calipers without loose pins, so the last four pictures to the right are pictures of another caliper...but we included them herein, so that each customer would know exactly what to look for with these calipers, should such pins loosen over time. In terms of cosmetic condition, these caliper sets were bulk packed, so while functionally they are fine, cosmetically there is some shopwear. The finish is still a shiny silver, but expect some scuffs and scratches in the silver finish from several years of storage time.
Listing Update...We have begun updating the pictures (except for the last four pictures, as discussed above) to reflect the next caliper set that will sell/ship. To this end, I can confirm the discussion above regarding cosmetic condition is accurate...so expect some shopwear. Please also note that while we have multiple quantities listed for sale, we will repeatedly update the pictures to reflect the next offering that will sell/ship.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
