This auction is for an original vintage roughly 12” diameter round 2-part vulcanized rubber spin casting mold, one of thousands of vintage molds we are or will be selling. Be sure to read below the physical description for additional important information regarding our molds. In summary though, please note that our molds are offered for decorative, design, and personal artistic purposes; they were originally designed for centrifugal rubber mold spin casting but are untested and their viability for casting is unknown; some or all of our molds may or may not contain all of the components needed to complete an individual piece so please study the photos carefully; no intellectual property rights transfer upon sale of any mold and, if it is determined that a mold is suitable for casting, it is the new owner’s responsibility to determine usage limitations; these have only been superficially cleaned and should not come into contact with food, nor should they be handled by children until thoroughly cleaned as we believe these have been stored in an industrial setting since the mid-1990s; and finally, regardless of any particular mold’s usability for spin casting, its future life is up to you. Do you mount it as wall décor as is? Or is it an empty canvas to you? Or maybe a component of an industrial design you have in mind? To hopefully help provide you with some inspiration, scroll down below the description to see embedded photos of some of the items we created by repurposing these molds.
All of our spin molds are vintage and the bulk of our collection dates back to the period from the mid to late 1970s into the 1980s. We are unsure how far back the early end of the time range goes, though there are certainly molds that appear to be of even earlier styles as well. This mold contains what appears to be a medallion or coin pendant design of Alexander the Great or a Greek soldier. The item measures roughly 1 1/2” x 1 1/4”. The mold has 16 cavities in total. Please note that these molds typically measure roughly 12” in diameter and weigh roughly 6 lbs. However, this mold may vary slightly in diameter and weight. The mold has a notch cut out of its side that allows the two parts of the mold to be easily aligned. The rubber seems to still be pliable. All of our molds are used and may have some or all of the following: pen and/or marker type writings, aging, wear, scratches, nicks, cracks, gouges, bending and/or warping, manufacturing imperfections, dirty and/or stained areas, dust, remnants of material used in the casting process, cast items that may or may not be complete or intact, missing locators, and rust-type marks and/or staining from the locators. This original vintage round rubber spin casting mold is sure to be a nice addition to your collection. We do our best to properly describe an item, but please take a close look at the pictures to assess condition (mouse over to zoom, click to enlarge). This is one of many original vintage rubber spin casting molds we currently have listed, among other vintage or antique items.

To elaborate on the summary we offered above, please note that our molds are being offered for decorative, design, and personal artistic purposes. While these molds were originally designed for centrifugal rubber mold casting (CRMC) using varied materials for the casting of many different items, our molds have not been tested for that purpose. We are therefore unable to offer any information regarding any mold's usability for actual spin casting. In that regard, please note that some or all of our molds may or may not contain all of the components needed to complete an individual piece so please study the photos carefully. For instance, earrings may need backings, a pendant may require a chain, a ring may need a gemstone, etc. Further, no intellectual property rights transfer to the new owner upon the sale of any mold. It is the responsibility of new owners to determine what can or cannot be done with them or the cast items that might be made with them. Generally though, if a mold is found to be suitable for casting, personal use creating cast items that are not intended for sale using any of our molds would not be a copyright or intellectual property issue. We only superficially clean them and, given they are of vintage nature and were used in an industrial setting, we do not know what metals or materials they may have come into contact with over their history. With that in mind, we do not recommend allowing food to come into contact with them or allowing children to handle them unless they are thoroughly cleaned. These unique spin molds are perfect for industrial décor. They are wonderful symbols of industry and artistry, marrying production efficiency with aesthetic handicraft. They can be displayed as is or repurposed in a number of cool and creative ways. Convert your wall art into a stylish clock or bookends. Place them under the glass top of a custom end table or coffee table. Use one as the base of a lamp. Cover a wall with them. They make great media for creative spirits. Treat one as an empty canvas. Or paint it to make a custom relief plaque ready for hanging. Channel Brunelleschi and add perspective. Or make impressions out of clay or plaster of Paris. Get your creative juices flowing and start experimenting! As previously noted, the last photo included in this listing is a montage of our early results from our initial repurposing efforts.
